Dr Athanasios Kalantzis

Athanasios Kalantzis is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust, with a special interest in Temporomandibular Disorders, Trauma, Cutaneous Oncology, Orthognathic and Paediatric Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. 

Having qualified in Dentistry in Athens, Greece and Medicine in Sheffield, UK, he trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Oxford University Hospitals and Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital. He served as Members Representative and Fellows in Training Representative of the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as Officer of the Junior Trainees Group. 

Mr Kalantzis is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has taught oral & maxillofacial trainees for several years as demonstrator and lecturer in “Dentist-on-the-Ward” courses. He has presented papers Nationally and Internationally and has experience in organising as well as chairing National and International conferences. He is extensively involved in education and training. 

Mr Kalantzis is co-author of the books “Oxford Handbook of Dental Patient Care 2nd edition” and the “Oxford Specialist Handbook of Medicine and Surgery for Dentists”. He is also author of chapters in other books; and is on the Editorial Board of “Medical Problems in Dentistry 6th edition”. He has a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals on Medline and has been a regular reviewer for journals.
